Reflecting on 2024: Celebrating Innovation, Partnerships, and Growth

As 2024 draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on all the incredible progress we’ve made at Bodytrak this year. Our team, together with customers and partners, has made a significant contribution to worker safety over the last year, underscoring our commitment to creating safer, healthier workplaces worldwide. I’d like to share a few of the milestones that have defined our journey over 2024 and set the stage for even greater achievements in 2025.

Welcoming Wesco: Expanding our reach through strategic partnerships

In 2024, we also had the pleasure of welcoming Wesco to the Bodytrak family. Bodytrak is proud to be the only physiological monitoring solution included in Wesco’s connected safety business, underscoring the unique effectiveness of our technology in addressing a wide range of workplace risks.

This partnership amplifies our mission by providing Wesco’s extensive network with access to Bodytrak’s suite of health and safety solutions, empowering organizations to mitigate risks such as heat stress, fatigue, musculoskeletal disorders and noise exposure. Wesco’s dedication to worker safety mirrors our own, and we look forward to a long and impactful partnership that reaches diverse industries worldwide. Together, we are breaking new ground, offering organizations the tools they need to proactively address health risks and foster a culture of care.

Forging relationships in fire and emergency services

A key highlight of this year was our expansion into the fire and rescue sector, being selected to provide vital safety services to Lancashire Fire and Rescue here in the UK and the Indianapolis Fire Department in the US. These collaborations have solidified Bodytrak’s role as a critical player in firefighter safety, empowering these teams with real-time data that enhances their resilience in high-stress, high-risk situations during training and out in the field. These partnerships exemplify our mission to protect the lives of those who protect us, and we are honoured to contribute to their safety and operational success.

Introducing the Lifting Strain Index: A new era in musculoskeletal health

In response to growing demand for solutions that address musculoskeletal health, this year we launched the Lifting Strain Index. This tool is designed to proactively prevent musculoskeletal disorders — one of the leading causes of workplace injury and absenteeism. By enabling organisations to monitor lifting activities and detect the risks of strain placed on the body in real-time, the Lifting Strain Index equips employers with accurate data insights to safeguard their workforce’s physical well-being, while enhancing overall productivity. This launch represents a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to mitigate physical risks in the workplace through one single comprehensive solution.

Empowering users with real-time physiological insights

This year also marked the release of our new mobile app for users, an innovation designed to enhance user engagement and transparency in workplace safety. Available on iOS and Android, the app offers real-time access to essential physiological metrics like core body temperature, heart rate, and fatigue levels. By providing employees with insights into their own physiological responses, the app empowers them to proactively manage their health and safety.

The app not only complements the alerts sent to supervisors but also enables users to see daily and weekly trends, alert counts, and time spent in different states. This level of insight helps foster a proactive safety-first culture, allowing workers to better understand their limits and contribute towards their own safety in high-risk environments. Additionally, with a competitive feature that ranks team members based on data usage, we’re encouraging continuous engagement with Bodytrak’s solution while promoting camaraderie and collaboration among teams. This launch reflects our ongoing commitment to leveraging data for positive action, reinforcing a transparent, data-driven approach to workplace safety.

Recognition for Bodytrak’s innovation: Awards and nominations

Over 12 months ago, we launched the world’s first smart safety solution of its kind with intrinsic safety compliance, Bodytrak 1 IS. Since launching, we have had several active pilots in sectors, such as oil and gas, highlighting the need for physiological monitoring where the requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE) are often higher, climatic conditions more challenging, and the risks even greater than with other sectors.

Our continued commitment to innovation has been recognised with the prestigious IP&E Award, honouring our ATEX and IECEx certified solution – Bodytrak 1 IS – as the Industrial Safety Solution of the Year. This award not only acknowledges the cutting-edge capability and design of our solution, but also highlights its impact on workplace safety. We are also thrilled that Bodytrak 1 IS has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Intersec Award in the Outstanding Safety Solutions category, with the winner set to be announced in January 2025. These accolades validate our relentless pursuit of excellence and affirm our belief that technology driven by data can and should play a transformative role in protecting the health and safety of workers globally.

Championing health and safety through industry thought leadership

This year, we also deepened our commitment to sharing knowledge and advancing best practices across the industry. I was pleased to be part of the 17th HSE Excellence Forum in Amsterdam to share insights on workplace challenges tied to heat stress and fatigue, addressing the difficulties organisations face in measurement and prevention, and discussing the transformative power of real-time physiological monitoring and trend analysis to enhance employee safety. Our blog and guide content covering essential topics, from health and safety regulation to fatigue management to risk assessments, has sparked conversation among industry influencers and decision-makers while providing a useful knowledge hub. These discussions continue to raise awareness around workplace health risks and emphasise the shared responsibility to create safer, healthier work environments.

Fostering a culture of resilience and well-being

Internally, the team spirit and dedication at Bodytrak continues to grow, with the team continuously bringing fresh perspectives and a shared dedication to our mission. This year, we also intensified our focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, reflecting our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices that prioritise people alongside financial and operational targets. By enhancing our customers’ health and safety practices, we’re helping them meet their own ESG goals — a powerful testament to the positive ripple effect that investing in worker safety can create.

Looking ahead to 2025

Reflecting on this whirlwind year, I am filled with gratitude for everyone who has been part of Bodytrak’s journey — our team, partners, customers, shareholders, and supporters. Your trust, collaboration, and commitment to our shared vision have made this year a truly exceptional one. Thank you.

As we look to 2025, we are more motivated than ever to advance safety, foster innovation, and support the health and well-being of workers everywhere. Here’s to a safe, healthy, and prosperous new year!
